In the short time since the release of the 788T, Sound Devices has made several small, but important improvements to the recorder’s electrical design. These changes come both from the experiences of our users and our own internal focus on continuously improving our products. We are offering to apply these hardware updates to all 788T recorders at no-charge.

788T Hardware Update

788T recorders manufactured before September 8, 2008 (788T serial number lower than HP0508246004) are eligible for a no-charge hardware update. This brings the 788T to current production hardware specification. These updates increase the overall accuracy and reliability of several systems, including the time code circuitry, microphone preamplifiers, and power supply. While most users will never have problems with these early 788T units, it is in a user’s best interest to have their recorder updated to present specification.

Sound Devices is scheduling 788T updates through our Return Authorization process on a first-come first-serve basis.

If you are in the U.S., please contact Sound Devices directly and arrange for the factory to update your recorder. Enter your product information here.

If you are outside the U.S., please contact your authorized Sound Devices Reseller/Distributor. They will be able to facilitate getting the recorder updated.
