MP2/MP3 File Playback Bug in Firmware Version 2.34

MP2 and MP3 sound files generated by a 7-Series recorder running version 2.34 firmware play incorrectly when played back on a 7-Series recorder running 2.34. The file duration is incorrectly calculated, causing the machine to cut short the file playback. Playback is unaffected when using third party hardware and software to play MP2 and MP3 files.

Why?

The 7-series firmware uses the MP2 and MP3 file sizes to calculate the file durations. In version 2.34 firmware, this MPEG decoder computation has an error where one of the numbers in the formula gets truncated, usually causing the calculated file length to be shorter than the actual file length. This problem manifests itself by prematurely ending files on playback. The actual MPEG file length is not affected, and will play back correctly using other MP2/MP3 decoders such as Windows Media Player and iTunes. This version 2.34 firmware problem is in the MPEG decoder only, and does not affect recording to MP2 and MP3 file formats.
