Known Issues for 7-Series Firmware Version 2.40
The following are known issues with firmware for the 7-Series as of version 2.40.
- Removing the record medium during a recording will (obviously) end recording to that medium; but the display on the 7-series recorder will not reflect this status immediately, and may take up to 30 seconds to present a notification that the record drive is offline.
- Running a repair on an unformatted volume may cause the recorder to lockup, requiring power to be cycled.
- If a take is identified as a false take too quickly (roughly less than 1 second) after hitting <STOP>, the take may not get saved as a false take.
- The 7-series can record reliably to an external FireWire drive that uses a PL3507 chipset, but can not reliably play back files from this setup.
- A CompactFlash card formatted on a 7-Series recorder can not be read by a Marantz recorder.
- The 7-series records zeros to tracks B and C when configured to record to tracks A and D.
- Renamed files are not recognized in the take list.
- Renaming a file will not change the file name in the metadata.
- Windows Media Player will not play back 7-series WAV files having more than 2 tracks.
- When converting 7-Series WAV files (of more that 2 tracks) to FLAC files using a 3rd party utility, it is required to use the command line option “–channel-map=none”.
- The Family UID tag is not implemented in the iXML chunk.
- If the recorder is set to “rec run” time code mode, the time stamp will sometimes be inaccurate and the file length may be clipped if you try to jam the same value to consecutive takes.
