In this role, you will be fully involved in new product development and also occasionally help support current production through ECNs and assembly training. You will be responsible for the design, prototyping, costing, and support of all mechanical components of complex electronic devices. You will be a liaison to global vendors and technical teams to design, develop and deliver on time and within budget.

The Successful Applicant is:

  • A very strong 3D CAD user who enjoys getting immersed in their designs
  • Self-motivated with innate curiosity about crafting new products
  • Able to balance their strong mechanical aptitude with a creative, artistic eye for design
  • Deeply interested in consumer product design and development principles
  • Capable of building low and high-fidelity prototypes for design and functional evaluation

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of mechanics, materials, and electro-mechanical component integration
  • Familiarity with methods and tools used for mass production of mechanical parts
  • Must be inventive and seek solutions through team discussions and/or judgment calls based on experience
  • Advanced 3D CAD skills that will be demonstrated daily
  • Flexibility to iterate through multiple solutions until the ideal is achieved
  • Mastery of design fundamentals including tolerance analysis, DFM and cost/quality sensitivity
  • Ability to produce high-quality accurate drawings, models and communications to concisely convey design intent to vendors and other team members
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and methods
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw, MS Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Experience with audio equipment or processes are not required but your lifetime interest in building/modding/inventing/iterating is vital to the position


  • Bachelor’s degree in a mechanical engineering discipline OR an Associate’s degree with equivalent work experience in a product design environment
  • Significant prior experience with 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor strongly preferred but Solidworks users are easily trainable)
  • Design experience with forming, extruding, laser-cutting, injection molding, machining, anodizing, plating, powder coating
  • Experience using 3D printer, mill, drill press, lathe, and other light machining tools for prototyping
