Service and Production Test Engineer – Reedsburg, WI

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a member of the service team, the test engineer is responsible for managing and documenting routine maintenance, calibration, and resolution of day-to-day issues for all Sound Devices test stands. The test engineer is also responsible for continuously improving and maintaining first pass yield metrics and standard test times. 

This position works closely with engineering to validate and streamline the implementation of new test code and fixtures for product release and product updates. The test engineer must document and manage cost impacts of test stand software bugs with production, repair and engineering.

Required Skills and Abilities:  

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product development or manufacturing support. 
  • Excellent SMT soldering and rework skills required. 
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, layout drawings, and datasheets. 
  • Programing experience in VB6, mySQL, JavaScript, and .NET a plus. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair Analog and Digital circuits to the component level.  
  • Experience with Design tools like PADS Logic and PADS Layout. 
  • Experience with embedded processors and firmware. 
  • Experience with Windows drivers and interfaces. 
  • Knowledge of test fixture design and production test programs. 
  • Create documentation and maintain inventory of spare parts. 
  • Assist with training of production and service test personnel. 
  • Work with the test group to help plan test stand expansion for new product releases. 
  • Other duties as required.
